As you continue to explore the wonders of Path of the Paddle across Northwestern Ontario, we are excited to introduce a new addition to our map collection – digital maps! In addition to our existing physical Overview Route Map, we are now offering digital versions of our maps that can be accessed from anywhere, at any time, through your smartphone, tablet, or your preferred mapping device. Our digital maps provide a more interactive experience, allowing you to zoom in and out, mark your favourite spots, and plan your route more efficiently.
These digital maps at 1:20,000 scale are available in three common formats: JPG, PDF, and GeoTIFF, making it easy for you to view them on your preferred device. With the added convenience of digital maps, you can easily access them on the go and plan your paddling adventure with ease. We are confident that this new offering will enhance your paddling experience and help you discover even more of Path of the Paddle.

Are the digital maps free, and how do I access them?Yes, the digital maps are free to download from the Path of the Paddle Association's website. Simply visit the "Maps" section of the website and choose the map you would like to download. Reference the Index Maps provided, or add full trail sections to your cart. Once you've added your desired maps, complete the checkout process. An email will be sent to you with a link to download the appropriate files. Our digital maps are provided free of charge to promote accessibility of the trails. If you would like to support this endeavour, please consider adding a $5 donation to your cart before checkout. What file type is right for me?Good question! Our digital maps are available in three file types: JPG, PDF, and GeoTIFF. Here are the benefits of each file type to help you with your decision: JPG: A JPG file is a compressed image file that is easy to view and share, making it a good choice for users who want to quickly view the map on a mobile device or computer without the need for specialized software. However, it may not be as useful for detailed analysis or printing, as the image may lose quality when it's zoomed in or enlarged. PDF: A PDF file is a versatile format that can be viewed on most devices and preserves the original layout and formatting of the map. It can also be printed at a high resolution, making it a good choice for users who need a high-quality, printable version of the map. GeoTIFF: A GeoTIFF file contains both the map image and additional geographic information, such as coordinates and projection data. This makes it a good choice for users who need to work with the map in a geographic information system (GIS) software to analyze or manipulate the data, such as measuring distances, calculating areas, or overlaying other geospatial data. However, specialized software may be required to view or work with the GeoTIFF file.

Do you still offer your Route Overview Map?Yes! Our Route Overview Map is still available, and we recommend it as a starting point for planning your next paddling adventure. It also makes a great gift or stocking stuffer!
